DEF LEPPARD Announces 2016 Tour Dates With STYX, TESLA

Following the announcement of the band's new self-titled studio album, DEF LEPPARD has just extended its massively successful North American tour due to overwhelming demand. The trek, supported by STYX and TESLA, will commence in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 27, 2016.

The dates are as follows:

Feb. 06 - Hidalgo, TX - State Farm Arena
Feb. 09 - Little Rock, AR - Verizon Arena
Feb. 10 - Bossier City, LA - CenturyLink Center
Feb. 13 - Uncasville, CT - Mohegan Sun Arena
Feb. 14 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hall
Feb. 16 - Brooklyn, NY - Barclays Center
Feb. 17 - Allentown, PA - PPL Center

DEF LEPPARD's first new studio album since 2008's "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" will be released on October 30. The CD was recorded earlier this year at frontman Joe Elliott's studio in Dublin, Ireland.

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen said the band was eyeing a single or possible EP release and ended up with over a dozen tracks.

He explained: "There wasn't any industry… no record company executive or anyone saying, 'You've got to do an album.' It was purely because we wanted to write songs, and we felt the need to do that. [It's] probably the most diverse thing we've done. I think it's the best thing we've done since 'Hysteria' — I really do. I've said that, and I've heard that come back as a quote, and I sincerely believe it. It's the loudest rock guitars we've ever had on some tracks."

Elliott told North Dakota's Grand Forks Herald that the band's new album is a self-titled affair "because that's what it sounds like. It doesn't sound like any one specific era of DEF LEPPARD. It's got everything. You'll listen and you go, 'Oh, that sounds like DEF LEPPARD,' or you'll go, 'That is LEPPARD, but it sounds a bit like LED ZEPPELIN or QUEEN but you can hear the AC/DC or the CROSBY, STILLS & NASH coming through.' We have not shied away from anything that's influenced us in our growing up periods of our life. Just because we've made the kind of music we've made doesn't mean to say we don't like all of this other stuff."
